This session will cover the many ways in which the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are very different from our traditional methods of science instruction. There are three dimensions to instructing and learning in NGSS that must be carefully blended together including: scientific practices, disciplinary core ideas and cross cutting concepts. This session will give science teachers a place to begin to make the transition into blending these three dimensions to best meet the Next Generation Science Standards. FIRST LEGO League Robotics Competition

This presentation will introduce interested participants to the FIRST LEGO League competition. Gale has two competition teams that will go to Bradley University in December for the regional tournament. We use the Lego Mindstorms NXT robot kit that is programmed using a laptop. Participants will be shown how to program the robot using the Miindstorm software and given ideas on how to start their own Robotics club.
