Sessions will be held at Lincoln Education Center, 4-5 pm. Register for each session you plan to attend at the links below.
Part 1: This session will focus on Becoming Brain Smart. We will learn the 4 Brain Smart Principals that foster permanent change in gehavior, a simplified brain model that will help us stop the "do as I say, not as I do" syndrome, the relationship between brain function and behavior and how to access our own wisdom so we can respond instead of react to life events.

Part 2: This session will cover the skill of Composure - Being the person you want children to become. Anger management is integral for social competance. We will learn how to remain calm and teach children how to behave. We will also discuss a structure for the classroom, the Safe Place.

Part 3: This session will focus on Encouragement and creating a sense of belonging. We will learn how relationships are the motivation for learning. Ideas for the classroom include meaningful jobs, friends & family board and ways to be helpful board.

Part 4: This session will focus on Assertiveness and setting limits and expectations. We will look at where our attention is focused; what we focus on, we get more of. Classroom ideas will include instant replay and the time machine.

Part 5: This session will focus on Choices; building self esteem and willpower. Appropriate choices and how offering children choices actually changes their brain chemistry will be dicussed. Classroom ideas will include picture rule cards.

Part 6: This session will focus on Positive Intent; creating teaching moments. Positive intent improves self image and builds trust. Discussion will include creating teachable moments especially for difficult children.

Part 7: This session focuses on Empathy and how to handle the fussing and the fits. Empathy wires the brain for self-control and emotional intelligence. Discussion will include helping children learn how to handle and process emotions.

Part 8: This session will focus on Consequences. Consequences help children learn cause & effect relationships. Discussion will include how to help children reflect on their choices and change.

Part 9: This session will focus on The School Family. This will bring all the previous skills together and give ideas on how to work as a team and a school family.
