The needs of our students are constantly changing, so we must continue to grow as professionals to help meet those needs. This plan is a dynamic document; that is, it is always changing to help our staff meet students' needs. However, this gives an overview of how we're doing that.
National Common Core State Standards Implementation - We're All In!
The National Common Core State Standards (NCCSS) have been formally endorsed and adopted by the Illinois State Board of Education. Galesburg CUSD #205 supports and encourages its teachers to begin moving forward in re-aligning classroom instructional activities implementing these new learning standards. Training in Problem-Based Learning, Literacy Strategies, and other topics has been provided to develop a foundation to support the implementation of NCCSS. To further enhance and streamline our use of the Comon Core Standards in all classrooms, the following plan to develop K-12 curriculum guides in the core content areas has been developed.

Digital Learning Environments, utilizing One-to-One Computing
District #205 is committed to enhancing standards-aligned and developmentally-appropriate curriculum and instruction throughout all schools. To support these efforts, we are beginning to migrate toward the development of Digital Learning Environments that utilize a one-to-one computing model. This means that eventually each student and teacher will eventually have an individual computing device.(laptop, tablet, etc.) to support learning through classroom instructional activities. We are currently developing partnerships with outside organizations to support this endeavor.
State and Federal regulations also require school staff to undergo periodic training to stay up-to-date on important issues related to the health and well-being of the students we serve. Building Principals and other District staff will create a schedule to ensure delivery of these training activities. These schedules will be kept on-file at Lincoln Education Center, but these may also change as conditions require.
